Shooting- 17/12/14
On the 17/12/14 we decided to re-shoot the narrative aspect of our music video, as we believe that the narrative footage we did have was not enough compared to the performance shots.
Unfortunately we could not get hold of the original actress, therefore we chose a new one, and decided to re- shoot all the narrative shots.
Location - Golders Green/High Street
Actress -Cooney
We decided to use Golders Green as the high street was the perfect location and Algwyne the performer knew the area well.

we decided to use this cafe as a vital location for the narrative; this is because stereotypically cafes are a place couples go to, and therefore using a couple in our narrative worked well

What went well?
- Timming went well, as we started early and finished in time
- We got extra footage, and some improvised shots so if we feel that a particualr shot doesn't work during editing then we still have other footage to use
- The weather made the day look dull, so some footage looks dull

Ideas for our Digipak
For the album cover we plan to have something which represents the 'inside of a human body'
for e.g. the ribcage below
for e.g. the ribcage below
We then decided to put flowers inside of the rib cage, which would come out on top. The flowers connote nature, love; which links back to the theme of some of the songs on the album which are love.
We then wanted to conform to the conventions of other indie album covers which feature the name to be big, bold, and the first thing the audience sees.
We plan to put the artist name on top and the album name at the bottom in a smaller font.
Magazine Research
We have chosen to use 'The Guardian' as our magazine platform, therefore the album advert will appear on 'The Guardian'.
Saint Raymond
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/jan/27/saint-raymond
Saint Raymond is the real artist of our chosen song 'As We Are Now'. The Guardian has promoted him showing their interst on similar artists of the same genre - indie.
Another example is Lana Del Rey
Justification
The guardian have reviewed 'Saint Raymond' an indie artist, and other similar indie artists like 'Lana Del Rey' and 'Bastille'.Saint Raymond

Another example is Lana Del Rey
In this example The Guardian is promoting Lana Del Rey's new music. She's an indie artist which therefore links back to the fact that The Guardian promote and review indie artists.
Target Audience for the Guardian tend to be middle class, educated people who have secured their livelihood comfortably in Britian.
The Target Audience for our artist is 16-28 year olds. This therefore has a link with the guardian as people aged 23-28 would probably have a degree or some form of higher education and therefore the target audience for the guardian links with the target audience for our artist.

London Night Filming
We went out to film the rest of our music video in
central London. Since we previously filmed all of our footage in the daytime,
the next step or our developed idea as I could say was filming during the
night. The filming took place at a foreshore in Southbank and was later used as
the performance shots. The filming was rather successful as we got to record
the whole song twice from 4 various angles which contributed to our piece. We
were also able to record some rough 360 degrees shots that after editing looked
really jumpy but pleasant. However, we
did face some problems; we filmed during the night which meant that the shots
were usually under-lit and the quality of the footage was quite poor despite
the good angles. Another problem we
faced was the weather; the wind was quite strong and occasional showers caught
us which got the camera glass as well as us wet- this was an issue as the
artist was supposed to look sharp and neat in his suit. Despite all that I
believe that the filming was successful as we not only got the footage we
needed but also experimented with the focus ring as well as the low angle
Audience Feedback 1
After filming the music video, we began to edit it and consequently we created a ruff cut of the video.
We showed this ruff cut to an audience of people in order to receive feedback.

Audience Member - Sam (Media Teacher)
Feedback Received:
- The visuals in the video are very selected; for example the first verse has the tunnel location the second has the beach and the last bit has the night location - you don't have to have such selected visuals; in a music video things can be split up and some shots can also be repeated.
- Because of the segmented visuals it feels as though the video drags
Audience Member - Tom (Target Market - aged 18)
Feedback Received:
- I love the visual metaphors; like using the fence as a jail and the performer is behind it as if to say his life is a jail
- I love how the visuals match the tone of the music - e.g. the ocean with the tune of the slow paced guitar
- I really like the home footage effect - comes across more personal as if were seeing into his past
Audience Member - Sam (Target Market - aged 18)
Feedback Received:
- Really like how we used the cross dissolve effect between shots as it fits well with the emotional music
- Really like the visual metaphors
- Love the beach shots with the home footage effect - makes it feel more personal and makes us invest more into the story line and emotions of the artist

Record Label
I've researched Glassnote as my specific record label as I think they would be most
likely to sign our artist.
Founded in
2007 by Daniel Glass, Glassnote has become the record label most suitable for
our artist as it takes on indie rock and alternative rock artists which
perfectly suits our music genre. Bands such as CHRVRCHES, Daughter, Two Door
Cinema Club and even Phoenix are part of this label showing that either artist
known or less known are taken on. The amount of people signed to this record is
minimal which perfectly fits our music type which targets the niche audiences;
the emphasis being on music rather than the money made from it.
The record
label has a good connection with tumblr as well as twitter which would help
distribute our music, especially with a fresh artist joining the music
industry. The official site of ‘Glassnote’ promoted tours and shares music
videos/ new tracks which would be highly beneficial specifically with the
upcoming release of our video.
The reason
as to why it would be the perfect label for our artist is because unlike major
labels it doesn't take over the artist’s actions; there is team work rather
than dominance over the shape of the career. This label hence recognises the advanced technology
and push in new media however, gives the artist a free hand in the area they
want to stick in as long as they and the record grow. This record label takes
on people that are passionate about music and have an understanding of the
evolving industry that our artist will definitely portray through the music
video. What’s most important is the fact that even though the artist is signed
to an independent label, team work is widely valued and in cooperated into the
expansion of your career- making it feel like a big family; something not
always felt with major labels9 November 2014
